BABCP-Accredited CBT & EMDR Therapist · 15+ years' experience
Over a decade in the NHS
Megan Patel
I'm Megan — a BABCP-accredited CBT and EMDR therapist with over 15 years' experience in adult mental health, including more than a decade within the NHS. I provide a supportive, non-judgemental space where we can work through things together, at your own pace.
I like to work collaboratively with you using CBT and EMDR, alongside elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy where they're helpful. What stays constant is the aim: a safe and welcoming space where you feel heard, and where the work stays focused on what matters to you.
Alongside CBT and EMDR, I have specialist training in CBT for long term conditions, and medically unexplained symptoms, supporting people whose mental health is closely tied to a physical health condition. I also provide supervision to trainee and qualified therapists.
My background spans older adult community mental health, a specialist eating disorders inpatient unit, and — for the past several years — working with adults presenting with common mental health difficulties. That range has shaped an approach that's grounded, flexible, and genuinely tailored to the person in front of me, not a fixed script.
Reaching out for support is a big step, and finding the right fit matters. That's why I offer a free 15-minute consultation — an informal chat where you can ask questions, share what's on your mind, and get a sense of whether we'd work well together. You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to be open to starting.
